Margo Farr

I hold an undergraduate degree in fine arts from George Washington University (Wash DC) and a graduate level diploma in art therapy. Now that I am retired from employment, I have the wonderful privilege to pursue my art making full time, both in my studio at Rockslide and outdoors in nature. 

Through my studio practice, I create sculptures and installations in response to environmental and political issues. Both my art education and my history as an art therapist inform my current exploration of our human vulnerability and the dichotomy of hope and futility in the face of dispossession and loss. I take my inspiration from nature and its potential to heal. Drawing on natural sources for my materials, I use branches, leaves, lichens and beeswax, in combination with plaster gauze, felted wool, and stitched textiles. I recognize that I am an uninvited guest on the traditional lands that have been cared for and stewarded for thousands of years by the Lekwungen Peoples, known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and commonly referred to as Victoria, BC.
