StatementI am a visual artist who can’t stay away from words. This entanglement has led me to create zines, artist books and countless drawings with titles that are too long. My work explores the relationship between human and non-human animals by examining how animals are represented in science, popular culture and art. To that end, I use drawing, photography and video, as well as found and appropriated materials, including text, paintings and photographs. Humour and playfulness are a vital part of my work. I have a side interest in nominative determinism and have explore aspects of my name and its consequences in works like, The Carrie Walker Project.
